Israelis War-Weary But Most Oppose Ceasefire With Iran, Poll Finds
A new poll has revealed a striking contradiction at the heart of Israeli public opinion: while citizens across the country are showing signs of significant war fatigue, the majority still oppose reaching a ceasefire with Iran and its regional allies.
The survey found that most Israelis do not believe that either Hezbollah or Iran has been sufficiently weakened by the sustained campaign of Israeli and United States military strikes carried out over recent weeks. This scepticism appears to be driving continued public support for military action despite the mounting human, economic, and psychological toll of prolonged conflict.

Israel has been engaged on several fronts simultaneously, including ongoing operations in Gaza following the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023, as well as a significant escalation against Hezbollah in Lebanon and direct exchanges with Iranian forces.
The mood reflects a deeply held view among many Israelis that stopping short of decisively neutralising these threats could leave the country vulnerable to future attacks. The memory of the devastating Hamas assault that triggered the current cycle of violence remains fresh in the national consciousness.
At the same time, the poll underscores the genuine exhaustion felt by ordinary Israelis who have endured months of rocket fire, displacement, the loss of loved ones in combat, and the constant shadow of regional instability. Families with soldiers serving on multiple fronts have faced particular strain.
The apparent contradiction between war-weariness and opposition to a ceasefire suggests that many Israelis feel caught between a desire for peace and a belief that the conditions for a durable peace have not yet been met. For now, public opinion appears to be aligning with the government's continued military posture, even as the human cost continues to climb.
